That Time Trump Wanted 78 Foreign Visas to Hire More Immigrants at Mar-a-Lago (VIDEO)
EDITOR’S NOTE: In light of everything that is happening on the Southern Border of the United States, And Donald Trump’s recent, horrific comments on immigrants and immigration, we wanted to re-run this story from July 2016. It exposed the fact that, when it comes to lining his own pockets, Trump has no problem with immigrants, and certainly does not put “America First.”
Poor Donald Trump Just Can’t Find Any American Workers For His LOW-PAYING Florida Club So He Needs Immigrants
If you need any more proof that Donald Trump will say one thing and pretty much do the complete opposite almost immediately, here it is.
According to Buzzfeed, everyone’s favorite racist, anti-immigrant Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, who vows to bring jobs back to Americans, has just this month ONCE AGAIN applied for temporary HB2 work visas to hire 78 foreign workers for his Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida. Notably, it’s been well established that Haitians are highly represented in the work force there.
“He is seeking to import foreign workers for the positions, which pay $10.17 an hour for housekeepers, $11.13 an hour for servers, and $12.74 for cooks. He filed applications this month claiming he couldn’t find enough Americans to do that work, and is seeking temporary visas to bring in 65 workers at Mar-a-Lago along with another seven waiters and six cooks at the golf club.”
Trump wants 76 visa waivers for his housekeepers, valets & cooks at his resort because he claims no Americans can fill the jobs. #Hypocrite

Wasn’t it just LAST WEEK that Donald Trump was talking about delivering jobs to Americans during his RNC presidential nominee acceptance speech?
“I’m going to bring our jobs back to Ohio and Pennsylvania and New York and Michigan and all of America.”
Well, I guess this doesn’t include Florida. In Florida, he’s got a completely different plan, apparently.
“On the economy, I will outline reforms to add millions of new jobs and trillions in new wealth that can be used to rebuild America.”
Woohoo! He’s going to add jobs to America, Just as long as it’s not in his clubs, by the sounds of it. Oh, and remember how bad immigration was for the economy?
“Decades of record immigration have produced lower wages and higher unemployment for our citizens, especially for African-American and Latino workers.”
But, wait, why is he doing this? Why is Donald Trump importing workers?
Well, heck, it’s hard being Trump, that’s why. It’s hard to get workers into his club, you see. He spelled it all out last September to political commentator Mike Barnicle on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” when he was hiring foreign workers for the exact same club back then.
“Donald… CBS Miami this morning reports that Mar-a-Lago, your beloved Mar-a-Lago, you’ve requested anywhere from — at Mar-a-Lago, they’ve requested anywhere from 70-90 H-2b visas a year since the year 2008 to hire workers at an average pay of $10-12 an hour. Why would you be importing workers from overseas rather than hiring workers from Florida?”
Yes, Donald. Do tell Mr. Barnicle and the American people why on earth you would be doing this. Please do.
“Because during the season, Mar-a-Lago is a seasonal job, which is very hard to get people in Florida for seasonal jobs. And during the season, in Palm Beach, Palm Beach is probably the hottest real-estate maybe in the world. And during the season in Palm Beach, it’s very, very hard to get help. You can’t, you know, we’re talking about Mar-a-Lago the club is closed for the summer. You know, the expression “Rich people don’t like heat.” And we close Mar-a-Lago and we open October — like October 1st. And from that, for about a five month period during what they call the Palm Beach Season, which is a big deal, you can’t get help. So we tend to get help from different places including Europe. And we’ve been doing that — by the way, these are all legal visas, you understand that, right?…These are all legal visas, but they — we have to bring people in, which tells you, I mean, you can have jobs out there in certain communities that are doing well. But in Palm Beach, getting help in Palm Beach during the season is almost impossible. So we go through a very legal process and bring people in through legal visas.”
Well, Donald, Buzzfeed looked into it and calls BULLSHIT on these rambling statements you are making in your defense.
“Last year, Tom Veenstra, a senior director at Palm Beach’s career services center, told BuzzFeed News that he had “hundreds of people in our database that would qualify for a lot of those hospitality jobs.”
In an email Wednesday, Veenstra said his agency, which is chartered by the state of Florida, has a database of 1,327 Palm Beach County residents interested in server, cook, and chef positions. He said local hotels are currently seeking his agency’s help to fill more than 856 such jobs.”
Wait. What? You mean, there are people who want the jobs that Donald Trump says that he can’t fill? And, according to Veenstra, Trump’s club didn’t even bother to contact him looking for the workers he has on file who DO want the jobs? So, Trump lied last year, and now he’s filling jobs in the exact same way again this year for his precious Mar-a-Lago club? And yet he has the nerve to complain about immigration and the impact it has on jobs in the US?
