‘Treason Summit’, ‘Traitor’ Hashtags Trend After Trump Puckers Up for Putin’s Posterior
Trump did more than humiliate our country…
When Special Counsel Robert Mueller indicted 12 Russian nationals on Saturday, July 14, 2018, for hacking the Democratic National Committee’s computer networks during the 2016 election, there was some hope that President Trump would bring it up during his meeting with Putin at the 2018 Russia-United States Summit in Helsinki, Finland, which occurred two days later on Monday July 16, 2018.
And the truth is Trump did bring it up, only to back down instantly after the Russian President assured him that there was no official hacking done from his country, which was bought despite the Special Counsel presenting evidence to the contrary. To add insult to injury, Trump equated the credibility of U.S. intelligence to Putin’s honesty.
This set off a lot of rightfully-deserved harsh reactions from political and media figures in the United States, particularly on Twitter. From former CIA Director John Brennan to CNN reporter MJ Lee, the criticism against Trump has gotten so bad, that several demeaning hashtags, including “Treason Summit” and “Traitor,” have started trending.
This is extraordinary. Instead of holding Russia to account for hacking the election, Trump uses the opportunity to talk about Hillary Clinton’s emails. Amazing.

Trump is just not responding to @JonLemire‘s question about whether he trusts the American intel community, or Putin. “I don’t see any reason why it would be [Russia]. … I have confidence in both parties.”

“Trump’s press conference performance in Helsinki rises to & exceeds the threshold of “high crimes & misdemeanors.” Not only were Trump’s comments imbecilic, he is wholly in the pocket of Putin. Republican Patriots: Where are you???” https://t.co/bvqpYzMzm8 #TreasonSummit

President Trump’s performance today was the most damaging and shameful surrender of American values and interests in modern history.
I say again to my Republican colleagues: Wake up.

To make matters worse for the Commander-in-Chief, Twitter even created a “Moment” focused on the event in question:
