BREAKING: House Majority Whip has been Shot While Playing Baseball in Park

Congressman Brooks: More than 50 Bullets Fired

Multiple news outlets are reporting that shots were fired at a group of Republican congressmen while they were practicing for the annual congressional baseball game in Alexandria, Virginia this morning. Among those shot, according to Representative Mo Brooks (R-AL). was House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA).

Brooks told CNN’s New Day that he heard Scalise “scream” as a semi-automatic gun continued to fire. Brooks said he lied on the ground with “others as the gunfire continued.” He added that there “must have been 50 to 100 shots fired.”

WJLA reports that two Capitol police officers were also shot, and the extent of all injuries is not known at this point.

UPDATE: SCALISE REMOVED ON STRETCHER

ABC’s Good Morning America released video of the Majority Whip being carried away from the park on a stretcher.
