Blood Soaked NRA Silent on Florida School Shooting – But Twitter is F-ing Furious
There was another school shooting Wednesday, this time at a Florida high school. At last update, two people are dead for sure, and there are “multiple fatalities”, with at least 14 casualties, and the 18-year old shooter is in custody.
There it is. Two sentences. That is how routine school shootings have become in America. In fact, they are now so routine I was able to recycle most of that text. Indeed this is the 12th such shooting so far in this year. That’s how day-to-day normal this has become, and it definitely should not be.
And as has become the routine, the NRA has been silent about the shooting. Just as they usually are. They have blood on their hands, and nothing to say.
As of now, here’s the latest post on the NRA’s Twitter:

A reminder that at @CPAC 2017 we launched the #CounterResistance against Chief Obstructer Elizabeth Warren and the violent, socialist left. Stay tuned to see what we have in store for #CPAC2018. pic.twitter.com/dl9J9EKqV2

And on Facebook:
See that? Conservative politics. That’s what they’re talking about. Because that’s what they really are. Are they out there tweeting and posting and appearing on TV saying anything about solving this problem? Are they talking about gun safety? No… they’ve got nothing to say at all.
And when they do speak up, if they follow their pattern, it’ll be to play the blame game, to deflect, to say it’s perpetually too soon to talk solutions, to offer empty “thoughts and prayers”….
But Twitter has a lot to say…
First, the scene…
Students at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida flee amid reports of a shooting at the school. “The school immediately went on lockdown but is now dismissing students,” Broward School District says. https://t.co/BuEAqGjCN1 pic.twitter.com/TWqjnIVT87

Senator Marco Rubio Says…
Just spoke to Broward School Superintendent. Today is that terrible day you pray never comes.
— Marco Rubio (@marcorubio) February 14, 2018
…but not a day you legislate for if you sold your soul to the NRA.
The master of horror… horrified.
More apt to be killed by opoids, no doubt, but maybe don't tell that to the kids who got shot in Broward County today. Or their horrified, grieving parents. https://t.co/W4mnOpmnqL

Broward school shooting–There will be prayers from Blabbermouth Don, Pence the Grinch, and their rightwing cohorts. There will be no call for any sort of sane gun regs.
— Stephen King (@StephenKing) February 14, 2018
Over your cold, dead…
As long as Congress members keep getting their blood money from the #NRA we wil never get common sense gun laws, All school shooting deaths are on the NRA.#GunControlNow #Broward #TheResistance #MAGA #Trump #FoxNews #Resist #ImpeachTrump Parkland pic.twitter.com/8y6wBmalOL

The last guy called it…
Our hearts break for all the victims and families affected by today’s terrible school shooting in Broward County, FL. These students, teachers, administrators, & families will all remain in our prayers.
— Vice President Mike Pence (@VP) February 14, 2018
Celebrity parents are in this with the rest of us…
Like thousands in South Florida, we sent the boys to school in Broward County this morning… there are no words to describe the despair, horror & anger. This does not have to be our collective reality. How many more? How many children must not make it home?

And lots of heartbreak and damnation…
So, when do we label the #NRA as a #terrorist organization? They promote gun violence, try to stop citizens from promoting #guncontrol, and influence govt policy via intimidation and coercion. #parkland #florida
— 17 Across Is Wrong (@17AcrossIsWrong) February 14, 2018
What’s extra depressing about #parkland is that the victims of the next mass shooting are reading about it right now, unaware that our collective inaction will kill them. And it could be any one of us #GUNCONTROL
— NurseRachet (@NurseRachet) February 14, 2018
If the ardent gun supporters want to make the "the shooter shot those kids, not the gun" argument and turn this into a Mental Health issue, just remind them that our President is attempting to cut Medicaid by 30% and the ACA entirely. #Parkland #2A

Our schools have turned into impersonal conglomerates serving multiple communities, but serving children inadequately in a hostile and uncaring environment. The kids are not allright. #Parkland.
