English Teacher Corrects Trump’s Horribly Written Letter, Sends it Back to WH in Epic Troll
Once a teacher, always a teacher. Yvette Mason taught English to middle and high school students for 17 years, before retiring last year — but she’d never seen anything as “appalling” as the letter bearing President Trump’s signature which the White House sent to her. So she corrected it, and sent it back.
Speaking to the Greenville News, Mason made a point which seems obvious;
“When you get letters from the highest level of government, you expect them to be at least mechanically correct.”
And while she didn’t go so far as to actually grade the paper she sent back, she told the Greenville News how she would have graded the letter, if it had been written by one of her students.
“If it had been written in middle school, I’d give it a C or C-plus. If it had been written in high school, I’d give it a D.”
Sadly, it was about students that Mason originally reached out to the White House over, and in the most tragic possible sense. She wrote to ask that President Trump meet individually with the families of the victims of the massacre of children at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland Florida, this past February.
Instead of a response she could feel good about, what Mason got was a “stylistically appalling” letter, which may bear Trump’s signature, but was likely (and hopefully) written by an obviously incompetent staffer, and didn’t even directly address her concern. It should be noted that the president did not meet individually with victim families, but instead held a “listening session” at the White House.
As for the letter itself, “I have never, ever, received a letter with this many silly mistakes,” Mason concluded. And she wasn’t alone in that assessment… Here’s just one example of the reaction of notable people on Twitter:

And this joke of a letter comes, supposedly, from the President of the United States. Is this making America great again? Or America losing it’s greatness? That is a question Americans must confront in this time.
