Kellyanne Conway Excuses Ethics For Trump Kids

Top Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway struggled to defend the Trump kids’ decision to offer access to their father in exchange for a $500,000 donation during a recent interview with CNN’s Chris Cuomo.

The two older Trump sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, reportedly spearheaded a charity effort that offered donors the chance to meet with their father in exchange for a massive donation to conservation charities. The Trump transition team has maintained that neither of the Trump sons were actually involved in the event and event-planning.
This came after Eric Trump had to cancel a charity auction that gave the highest bidder a coffee date with his sister, Ivanka Trump.
Kellyanne Conway came out in full support of the Trump children.

“The idea that these folks are trying to help people in need and those people are going to suffer now because folks are pointing out what they think to be improprieties, I didn’t say I necessarily agree, I just think that they will always do the right thing. I know them well. They will always do what they perceive to be the right thing, regardless of who has a comment about it.”

But New Day host Chris Cuomo pushed back. He pointed out the hypocrisy of the Trump campaign making “pay to play”  accusations against the Clinton Foundation. Trump often accused Hillary Clinton of using the foundation to sell access to the Clintons in exchange for donations.

Kellyanne Conway, however, still insists that the Trumps’ offering access to their father for $500,000 is completely different.

“I don’t know how that’s the same as Bill Clinton giving a million-dollar speech in Russia and then Hillary Clinton while secretary of state and giving 20 percent of the U.S. uranium interest away,” she said.

Cuomo quickly corrected her.

“It’s paying money to get to power,” he said.

Last September, the Clinton foundation received a four-star rating – the highest possible – from a charity watchdog group. Charities connected with the Trumps, however, have struggled to prove they’ve done much charitable giving at all.
