America Last: Under Trump, US Now the Last Holdout from Paris Climate Accord
The US is destroying it’s credibility by pulling out of the Paris Accord as Syria becomes last country to sign up
Syria, the last remaining hold out, has announced that it will sign the United Nation’s Paris Accord promising to tackle climate change. This means that the ONLY country that will now not be part of the accord is the United States, thanks to Donald Trump.
That’s right. According to Bloomberg, the war torn country of Syria has committed to an accord promising to taking measures to reduce greenhouse admissions to prevent the earth from warming anymore than 2 degrees Celsius, and hopefully even much lower than that. The only reason it didn’t sign the agreement earlier than this is because of the fact the country has been in absolute chaos for years now. But, now with increased stability, the country has pulled itself together and officially declared it will sign on.
The United States under President Obama was an original signer of the accord, but in his infinite wisdom, climate change denier Donald Trump decided he would pull the US out of the agreement. The US is locked into the agreement until 2020, but plans to exit as soon as possible after that because Trump sees the accord as being “unfair” to the United States. Is there anything Trump thinks IS fair to the United States? That seems to be a common gripe of his. Everything is unfair! And, in the past, he has even expressed the bizarre concept that climate change is made up conspiracy against the US.
The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.

And now, because of Trump’s stance on the Paris Accord, Trump has found himself uninvited to a climate change summit happening on December 12 in France. As The Hill reports, a cabinet member of French President Emmanuel Macron’s government says that “at the time being” Trump isn’t going to be included, while 100 countries and NGO’s will be there. As a result of Trump’s regressive thinking on climate change, the US is finding it outside of a major summit reducing America’s influence on the future of the planet.
“As if it wasn’t already crystal clear, every single other country in the world is moving forward together to tackle the climate crisis, while Donald Trump has isolated the United States on the world stage in an embarrassing and dangerous position.”
What is scary and dangerous about this is the fact that the US is one of the world’s biggest polluters. America, along with Europe and China account for half of the world’s greenhouse gas output.
How is completely alienating the US from the rest of the planet helping to make America great again? It’s clear that American demands to make the Paris Accord more palatable to Trump aren’t going to happen. The rest of the world will carry on without America’s participation and America will continue to be on the outside looking in as other countries work together to make the planet a better place. “America First” has become “America Last.”
